This isn't a roadmap or a set of recommendations for learning Android mobile development. I just want to share some sources of information
Aside from my university course, I got my start with the NecoRu YouTube channel, run by a wonderful Russian-speaking creator from Spain. He doesn’t post videos as often these days, but thanks to him, I once learned the basics of Android app development, networking, databases, and other essential aspects of mobile development. I started creating UI using the XML markup language and then switched to Compose, also thanks to him. After 1–2 months, NecoRu’s content was no longer enough for me, and I stumbled upon a true gem in mobile development: Philipp Lackner, a content creator from Germany with excellent English that’s easy to understand. Through his content, I began actively reviewing and studying all his best practices for tackling various problems. Later, I stumbled upon another excellent creator of mobile development videos: Ahmed Guedmioui. Thanks to him, I tried my hand at building large-scale projects for the first time and designing them with the best possible architecture.
At the same time, I started reading articles on Habr and Medium by various authors. On the excellent website kotlinlang.ru, which features translated Kotlin documentation, I learned about the magnificent book *Kotlin in Action*, whose second edition was released in late 2024.
And of course, no list would be complete without these Telegram channels: @android_broadcast (One of a series of channels on mobile development by industry legend Kirill Rozov) @kotlin_lang (A very large chat with numerous threads on various technologies, where you’re sure to find help) @kotlin_adept (A great blog by a mobile developer from “Kontur”)
I also don’t want to overlook how useful company-run courses and boot camps can be. They really boost your skills, point out mistakes you might not have noticed before, and broaden your horizons. For those living in Siberia, I can personally recommend the Eltex school.
Good luck!
